While every church should have the same mission (though it may be stated in different ways), Vision describes how we will uniquely accomplish our mission. Every local biblical church shares a mission similar to Cordova Community Church. But that is probably where similarities cease. How will CCC reach the lost? Will our worship be traditional or contemporary? Will we focus on large group gatherings or small group intimacy? These questions lead us to determine what the vision of this church will be. While never forgetting that this is God’s church, not our own, we believe that He has called Cordova Community Church to reach and teach people in a specific way.
To use a favorite illustration with ice cream: all churches are in the ice cream business (purpose), but we all serve a different flavor (vision). Inherent in this illustration is that a variety of flavors exist for reaching a variety of peoples and satisfying their tastes. Some like butter pecan; others prefer fudge ripple. Different church visions merely express the multifaceted creativity of God. We need them all, and one is not better than another. But at Cordova Community Church we realize that we cannot serve everyone. Different congregations exist and must be planted to reach a variety of cultures. We are convinced God has made our vision clear:
Our vision is to accomplish the purpose God gave our church through “Cell Groups” and church planting.
