Our Purpose

Jesus said that his mission is worldwide in scope. Disciples are to be made in “every nation.”

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…(Mt. 28:18-20).”

This is the purpose of the global church. All Christians are called to participate in this mission. The Cordova Community Church is, and is committed to always be mission focused.

There is no way we can force people to follow Jesus. That is a decision determined by the heart of the hearer and how they respond to the Holy Spirit (Mt. 13:18-23). But we have a responsibility to proclaim Jesus. When passionately owned and acted upon, this purpose catalyzes a local church for high impact. The purpose is unchanging, is independent of personalities and individual passions, and has abiding relevance for all generations to come. God has made crystal clear His purpose for the Cordova Community Church.

Our Purpose is to “lead people to grow into fully developed followers of Jesus.”

Jesus’ mission focused upon people being in the right relationship with God and one another. He said that loving God and loving people are the two greatest commands (Matthew 22:36-40). We grow into “fully developed” Jesus when we intentionally participate in “Three Vital Relationships.” The “Three Vital Relationships” are:

1. Intimacy with God – John 17:3; Acts 2:42

2. Community with God’s Children – John 13:35; Acts 2:43-46

3. Influence with those who are away from God – Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:47
